The Interview

What steps do you take to stand out from your competition?

We offer a discount on all our jobs, and we are focused on delivering high quality customer service. We believe this makes us stand out from the average carpet cleaning company out there and our customers seem to love us for it.

How long have you been marketing your business online? What changes have you seen in this time?

Since 2018. We've seen a big trend in Google looking for high quality content, whether ranking for SEO or running Adwords. It's all about their customers, and they want to them to find exactly what they are looking for, which is meaningful content.

What do qualities do you look for in an employee?

Besides the ability to perform the role, we look for people that are reliable. We're trying to build a business that has happy customers and happy employees, but it's hard to do that if your employees are not reliable. This is one of the biggest qualities we look for when employing someone.

What's the thing you hate the most about the industry you're in?

Travelling between jobs can be a real pain. It's also very seasonal, meaning that our Summer months are often really busy, while Winter months tend to be quiet.

What's the most annoying type of spam email that clogs up your inbox?

We are always getting SEO offers from spam emails. We focus on doing our own SEO and we think we're ok at it, so it would be great if we could turn this off and stop them from coming in so often.

If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

Focus on your customers. In this day in age, great customer service is really rare. If you can deliver this, and make sure that any problems your customers face are taken care of, then you will automatically stand out head and shoulders above the rest.

What works best when talking with your clients/customers - an informal or formal style of communication?

We definitely go for the personal informal style. We aim to build a long-term relationship with our customers and want them to think of us as friends rather than a large cold company that just provide them a service.

How much do you focus on after-sales support?

Yes, we follow-up with customers to ensure they are happy with our service, request reviews so we can learn from feedback and generally make sure everyone is happy.
