How To Make A Good First Impression On Visitors To Your Business

submitted on 31 January 2020
First impressions count for a lot, especially in the business world. You will always want to put your best foot forward anytime anyone comes to visit your business, whether this is a client, potential customer, affiliate, interviewee or anyone else who might step foot inside. When you are able to make a positive first impression and demonstrate your professionalism off the bat, it means that you will be taken seriously, and it could help you to achieve your goals.

Here are a few tips that should help you and your business make a positive first impression on any visitor to the office.

Improve Kerb Appeal
Impressions will be formed from the moment that the visitor sets eyes on the building, so you need to make sure that it looks professional from the outside. This means that you will need to keep the area neat and tidy, have details of the company outside, a stylish doorway and anything else that might impress a visitor.

Make Sure That Visitors Are Received
When they enter the building, your visitors will then need to be warmly received by your receptionist, so you should always notify them of any important visitors and how they should be welcomed. The waiting area needs to be neat and attractive with refreshments and newspapers/magazines available whilst they wait.

Clean Office Space
It is hard to have any respect for a company when it clearly does not respect itself by having a messy, unorganised and drab office space. This is why you need to keep the entire space neat and organised at all times. This should include having clean, sparkling floors, which might involve using Fermin Unzueta floor stripping and waxing to restore your floors to their former glory. Floors often look worse for wear in large businesses because of high traffic, so this is usually an area that needs addressing.

Friendly Yet Professional Interactions
People will quickly pick up on the atmosphere in the office by watching the ways in which people interact with one another. You need to make sure that your staff are friendly yet professional with one another and also with anyone that comes to visit the office. This is helpful for creating a good impression as well as creating a productive environment in the workplace, which everyone can benefit from. Additionally, when you meet visitors, you need to make eye contact and offer a firm handshake with a smile.

Dress Professionally
Following this, first impressions are also partly formed on appearance, so it is essential that everyone looks professional. This does not necessarily have to involve wearing a suit and tie, but it should be smarter than wearing jeans and trainers in the office.

Walk Them Out
People are still forming their first impressions even when they are leaving the office, so it is helpful to walk them out of the building. You want to portray yourself as a busy person but also show that you value their time and appreciate them coming in to see you, which you can do by showing them out at the end of your meeting.

It is vital that you are able to form an excellent first impression when anyone comes to visit your business, and the above tips should help you to do this.
