Your Essential and Handy Guide to Split-Type Air Conditioning and Its Main Benefits

submitted on 26 May 2019
On a hot summer’s day, there’s nothing like stepping into a cool and refreshing environment. This kind of convenience can only be achieved by a good air conditioning system, whether it’s for your home, office, or business premises. Nowadays, more people are investing in air conditioning to have a more comfortable environment indoors, and it’s an investment that’s undoubtedly worth it. And one of the most popular types of air conditioning systems you can get is a split-type air conditioning system. Split-type air conditioning systems are also called mini-split, duct-free or ductless systems, and it connects an evaporator unit located indoors with a condenser placed outdoors with the use of a simple tube. With a split-type unit, any part of your home or office can be cooled; you even have the option of going for a unit with heating capabilities as well. But there are other advantages brought by having a split-type air conditioning system in your property. Here’s your essential guide to split-type air conditioning and its main benefits.

1. Ease of installation
Split-type air conditioning systems are easier when it comes to installation compared to conventional air conditioning units. When the evaporator is attached to the condenser, all you need is a hole (measuring about 7.6 cm or 3 inches) in the wall for the conduit. The condenser doesn’t need to be near the indoor evaporator unit, because the connector can have different lengths. This way, you can efficiently cool any indoor environment in no time.

2. Highly versatile You can set up the indoor air blowers for split-type units in as many as three areas, and you can choose to have them placed on the floor, ceiling, or wall. Additionally, you can purchase independent, floor-standing units as well. These units are small, and you can get them covered in a decorative jacket for use indoors. Split-type units often come with remote controls so you can easily regulate the temperature. Remote controls are located in every room where you set up the unit.

3. Silent operation
In some air conditioning units (particularly old ones), noise can be quite disruptive, disturbing the occupants of the room or space, as the air conditioning experts from www.sub-cool-fm.co.uk fully know. But split-type systems often feature silent operation since the compressor is placed outside. You will hardly hear any noise even when the unit operates at full blast.

4. Energy efficient
Although you will often find more efficient central air conditioning systems today, these types of systems can lose more than a third of their energy because of the necessary duct work. This is especially true if the duct work needs to pass through a non-conditioned area, such as a loft or cellar. Split-type air conditioning systems, on the other hand, don’t require any ducting, and it only needs a 7.6 cm conduit or connection tube to attach it to the outdoor compressor unit.

5. Affordability
Last, but certainly not least, split-type air conditioning units or systems are more affordable compared to central systems. Even though split-type air conditioning can be more expensive than a window-type unit, it is far better when it comes to installation, control, efficiency, durability, and performance.
